Here you can go right to the edge of a live volcano and take a peek inside.
White Grass Ocean Resort runs late afternoon 4WD tours that take you to the foot of the mountain. From here it's an easy 10-minute walk to the rim.
At the rim you will witness lava thrown hundreds of metres in the air, the rumbling of the explosions and ground vibrations. At night the fiery red colours create an amazing display.
Weather permitting you might even get a chance to enjoy a dinner on the rim of the volcano.
While on Tanna take the time to explore the natural wonders created by the volcano.
Tanna's coastline has been shaped by the raw power of Yasur and is like honeycomb with its lava rocks and pools. Among these you will find some great swimming holes.
You can even head to a bubbling hot spring on the beach and cook a hot lunch.
The volcano is also responsible for the rich fertile soil of the island, where some of the best coffee in the world is grown.
