Flinders Chase National Park
Rocky River

At the western end of the island, Flinders Chase is one of South Australia's most significant national parks. Much of the park is mallee scrub, but there are some beautiful, tall sugar-gum forests, particularly around Rocky River and the Ravine des Casoars. There's wild, often spectacular, scenery right around the coast, reached via roads and walking tracks.

The Cape Willoughby Lightstation, 28km southeast of town, first operated in 1852 and is now used as a weather station. Tours run at 11:30, 12:30 and 14:00, as well as 15:15 and 16:00 in holiday periods. Nearby, Dudley Wines has a cellar door with tastings - the lovely rosé is best enjoyed while taking in the sea views and picking away at a Mediterranean platter.
