Overview

The Dungog Shire is nestled in between the Pacific and New England Highways with scenic country roads providing quick access to these main thoroughfares.

The Barrington Tops World Heritage National Park provides a stunning and unforgettable backdrop. Geographically situated in the Hunter Valley, Dungog is an easy hour's drive to Newcastle where Newcastle Airport links to the rest of Australia. Its the same distance to the coast and only two and a half hours drive from Sydney.

Beyond the towns the main roads meander, wooden bridges rattle, herds of cows pass to and from milking, gnarled trees line the way and galahs and rosellas flash their colour in flight. Often there is an alternative route, a gravel road perhaps, to make a round trip, maybe through the forest or criss-crossing creeks and spurs where dogs stare from a farm gate and the kids are out on horses.
