Overview

Edgeroi lies just 26 kilometres north of Narrabri on the Newell Highway (approximately 15 minutes by car) and 90 kilometres south of Moree.

Agriculture is the main industry of the district and the village serves as a community centre for the local farmers as well as the railway grain silo.

The village of Edgeroi is named after the famous Edgeroi Station. This station, from the early 1800s until just after World War II, was one of the largest stations in north west NSW (150,000 acres). After World War II, the station was divided into soldier settler blocks.

This country is amongst the richest agricultural land in Australia. About four kilometres north of Edgerio, on the left hand side of the road, is the remains of the once bustling 52 stand Edgeroi Station woolshed. Today, wheat, sorghum and other dryland crops are grown in this area, including cotton.

Pronounced Edge-er-roy.
