Overview
Scarborough is a rural and residential area; Scarborough is thought to be named after the seaside resort in Yorkshire, England or after one of the convict transport vessels in the First Fleet.
Settlement of the area dates from the early 1800's. Growth took place in the 1880's, spurred by the establishment of coal mining, with villages established around the coal mines.
Major features of the area include Scarborough Beach, Scarborough Public School of Art & Crafts and Scarborough Hotel.
