Overview
The Warren Shire covers an area of 10,644 square kilometres and includes the villages of Collie and Nevertire.
The Macquarie Marshes, undoubtedly the most significant wetland complex in Australia, are located 50 kilometres north of Warren, and are listed on the Ramsar Convention as a wetland area of international importance.
The Shire also boasts many internationally renowned Merino Studs such as Haddon Rig, Raby and Egelabra.
The area is extremely flat except for occasional granite outcrops, the largest being Mt Foster (250 metres) and Mt Harris (240 metres). Both of these elevations represent the highest points in what is two separate small groups of hills. Both are in close proximity and are offshoots of the Warrumbungle Range which may be seen in the distance. The elevation of Warren is 197 metres and the general slope of the land is less than 3 degrees.
