Overview

Wheat and women have put the town of Freeling firmly on the map, cementing its place in both reflective and modern history. The town is set on gently rolling hills and in the early 1900s it was the largest hay producing centre in the state, with haystacks so large they could be seen for miles. Nowadays, although the haystacks have diminished in size, the towns popularity has boomed as it is the main setting for the Logie-award-winning television series, McLeods Daughters. The series has been a huge success, following the lives and loves of a group of modern-day farming women and has introduced the world to the picturesque scenery of South Australia and to a town with a strong sense of community, pride and acting ability.
