Monkey Mia has a long and very hot summer (December to March) where little rain falls and the temperature is usually over 40°C (104°F); January and February are typically the hottest months. Winter brings marginally cooler weather, and rain, where temperatures are around 30°C (86°F). Average rainfall is around 600mm per year.
