Muchea is 30 minutes drive north of Perth, at the southernmost edge of the beautiful Chittering Shire. It is situated at the junction of the Great Northern and Brand Highways. The shire also includes Lower Chittering, Bindoon and Wannamal.

Whilst Muchea is a small dot on the map, it is a beautiful pastoral area and historically is of interest for the John Glenn Interpretive Centre which gives details of the flight of Astronaut John Glenn over Perth in 1962.

A trip that so captured the imagination of the world when the entire city of Perth, turned on their lights for his passing spacecraft. A space station constructed at Muchea but now non-existent, monitored this pioneering space venture.

Muchea has an excellent bed and breakfast and farmstay accommodation. A traditional general store provides post office facilities, shopping, hardware and fuel.
