Edinburgh Health and Safety

Lothian Rd, Dalry Rd, Rose St and the western end of Princes St, at the junction with Shandwick Pl and Queensberry and Hope Sts, can get a bit rowdy on Friday and Saturday nights after people have been out drinking. Calton Hill offers good views during the day but is probably best avoided at night.

Women should avoid crossing The Meadows (the park that lies between Old Town and Marchmont) alone after dark - several women have been attacked here. And be aware that Coburg St in Leith is a notorious red-light district - lone women here at any time of day might be approached by kerb crawlers.
