Las Vegas survives on tourism. The last thing it wants is a reputation for crime. There are more police and private security officers than you've probably seen in your entire life. Surveillance cameras are everywhere. In general, the Strip is crime-free, but beware of pick-pockets in crowds around free outdoor shows and on public buses. Use the in-room safes that are provided by many hotels and never leave your valuables unattended.
Touts line the Strip handing out fliers advertising 'escort' services and 'strippers direct to your hotel room.' Your best bet is to respect their First Amendment rights and keep walking.
