Louise Goldsbury realised cruising was the best way to travel from the moment when, on her very first cruise, the pool boy asked if he could clean her sunglasses.
She has heard there's a lot more to cruising than lying around in luxury, but that's an educational journey which will take the rest of her life to complete.
Although she's only in her 30s, Louise believes you can learn a lot from the type of trips that people do in their retirement. Therefore, apart from cruising, she also drove around Australia in a motorhome for a year and edited a travel magazine for the over-60s when she was 29.
Louise's travel writing career kicked off in London with an occasional column in The Independent called 'Someone's Got To Do It', and she has since written for most of Australia's major newspapers and travel mags. She has lived in New York, Darwin and Taipei, but is now based in the country's cruising gateway, Sydney.
As editor of Cruise Weekly, Louise spends embarrassing amounts of time reading and writing about the latest trends and news in cruising, but this summer, she's all set for a big season on the sea.
Darwin, the Northern Territory's cosmopolitan capital, is a great place to begin exploring in the tropical Top End.
Darwin boasts a relaxed, contemporary lifestyle and personality. Much of that personality stems from the adventure, culture, heritage and nature that lies within easy reach from the city.
