Get on the 'piste' at Falls Creek, Victoria.

If carving powder by day and kicking back and partying with celebs by night gets your blood pumping then head down to Falls Creek, Victoria, this week for the third annual MTV Snow Jam 2009.

Snow Jam is literally the coolest free live music and winter sports competition around. This year, it is being held here is Australia and everyone is invited.

David Wallace MTV's Television Producer, said "Falls Creek has a great demographic for us (MTV) and our first snowboard event which has the largest purse ever offered for a rail jam in Australia.

"The MTV Rail Jam will take place on a 20-step staircase in the center of the Falls Creek village area, directly in front of the recently opened Quay West Resort & Spa.

The event will begin at 5.30 on Thursday before the action-packed MTV Snow Jam.

"It is a one-off event with 24 riders taking on a 10 metre rail. They will be culled to 16 boarders for the next round and eventually whittled down to the final eight (by three expert judges) who will take part in two rounds to determine who gets a slice of the $10,000 prize money.

"The winner will take home a cheque for $6,000, the second placed rider $3,000 and the snowboarder who impresses the judges with his tricks will be awarded $1,000.

Star gazing at Snow Jam
Australia's Next Top Model winner Tahnee Atkinson and Miss Universe contestant and ex- Neighbours actress Erin McNaught will be maing appearances. Hip-hop dancer and choreographer Nacho Pop, Aussie pro skateboarder Corbin Harris, and Aussie pro surfer Garrett Parkes are also due for appearances at MTV's annual winter event.

Also taking the stage will be rapper Phrase, soul singer-songwriter Jade McRae and the disco post-punk electric vibes of Cut Copy DJs.

At the conclusion of MTV's first snowboard comp the action-packed MTV Snow Jam (Falls Creek's largest ever party) will begin.

"I'm inviting everyone personally because this will be the biggest party Falls Creek will have ever seen," Ruby Rose said of the event. "There'll be amazing live music and lots of crazy people (like me) from MTV."

Snow Jam is taking place at Falls Creek on Thursday 30 July and will be aired on MTV Australia on August 15 at 5:00pm (AEST).
