Sydney Food & Wine Fair comes of age

This year will see one of Sydney's longest standing and most popular events come of age, as the Sydney Food & Wine Fair celebrates its 18th year.

We Aussies definitely love our food (and wine, of course), so what better way to raise money and awareness for a worthy cause than to throw a party? And it seems that all of Australia agrees, judging by the success of the previous years.

Jan McKenzie of Cafe Sydney said the Sydney Food and Wine Fair is a highly regarded, quintessential event and is one of the most renowned fundraisers across Australia, a testament to its success.

"We are passionate about our involvement with the Sydney Food & Wine Fair, but the focus is on the fundamental aim of the event which is raising money for the AIDS Trust of Australia to allow them to continue their great work."

The signature fundraising event for the AIDS Trust of Australia continues to expand each year with its popularity and has developed a reputation amongst Sydneysiders as a great day out with friends and family.

With food and wine service from midday, an extensive line-up of Sydney's restaurants and Australian wineries including Cafe Sydney, Jonah's at Whale Beach, Longrain, Quay, Guillaume at Bennelong, Bourke St Bakery and Scarborough Wines will be involved this year.

As well as all the food and wine one could imagine, there will be entertainment provided on the main stage in the form of local performers and acts to keep you amused. These acts will include dancers, DJs, singers and drag performances.

Newly appointed Chief Executive to the AIDS Trust of Australia Nick Toonen said he was confident this year's fair would raise much-needed funds for HIV prevention, support, care and research.

"The AIDS Trust of Australia is the national HIV/AIDS fundraising body and the Sydney Food and Wine Fair is our signature event, it's a great day out for an even greater cause."
