Top Five Sexy Cities
by Alastair Edwards from Yahoo!7

It may have been Manhattan that helped put Sex and the City on the map but, if you're looking for a cheeky cosmopolian getaway, there are far more exotic fruits to sample than the Big Apple. It just so happens that Sex and the City writer, Liz Tuccilo, thinks so too. Her news series, Single Minded Adventures, sets out to find what makes singles tick in some of the sexiest cities around the world.

You can watch all the episodes of her exclusive new series by clicking here, but, if you want to find out a bit more about her top five travel finds, then read on..

Rome | Paris | Reykjavic | Beijing | Mumbai

Rome
Tourist or traveller, lover or lonely heart - if a trip to Rome doesn't kindle romance in your heart, then we'd say you're in need of a transplant. The Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps may be shutterbug magnets, but are each every bit as awe-inspiring as the reputation that precedes them; the queues around the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica may seem endless, but your memories of the treasures within will truly last a lifetime; and walking home hand-in-hand through darkened medieval lanes, full of wine and fine food from a friend's recommended restaurant, will put a smile on your face Da Vinci would be proud to paint.

Rome may have many landmarks to take the breath away, but simply setting off to walk the city with no destination in mind is likely to leave most visitors with their most romantic memories. Finding an unexpected park, a buzzy trattoria or a glimpse of the Tiber around the corner of cobbled street is a magical experience, and all the better if you have someone special to share it with.

But Rome was not just built for lovers. Singles will find themselves surrounded with the planet's most passionate men and women and they won't be backward in coming forward if they take a liking to you. As Liz discovers in her Single Minded Adventures, you don't seek love in Rome, it seeks you...the only thing you need to do is turn up.

Paris
By moonlight or midday, autumn or spring - the beauty of Paris attracts more visitors per year than any other city on the planet. From its grand cathedrals and haute couture to its cobbled lanes and rustic cuisine, every facet of the City of Light is fragrant with a savoir faire that intoxicates any traveller who sets foot in her streets and, if sexy cities are what you're after, that should definitely include you.

Real romantics will feel right at home amongst the endless couples you will spot canoodling in every corner of the city. Just sitting at one of the beautiful cafés with a plate of patisseries, watching young lovers stroll past, will put you in the right frame of mind to take on the capitals cultural delights. The Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and the mighty Louvre are three of the world's most famous tourist attractions, and for very good reason. The Louvre itself could occupy a week of your time on its own (especially if you're queuing to get close to the Mona Lisa), but of course that would leave you rather short on time to window shop at the flagship stores of the biggest names in fashion.

There's no getting around it; if you want to do Paris in style, it's going to cost you a fair few francs. However, you don't need to have deep pockets to make the most of your time there - a cheap baguette, some brie and a bottle of red will set you back less than an a big Aussie breakfast, and a picnic spot in site of the Eiffel Tower with the one you love is absolutely free.

Of course, there are plenty more secrets the Parisians have up their sleeve for getting the most out of their sexy city, as Liz Tuccilio discovers in her Single Minded Adventures series. Click here to find out what they are!

Reykjavic
For many of us, the arctic is the last place we can picture ourselves having a hot night out - probably half the reason why the sexy city of Reykjavic is still one of the world's best-kept holiday secrets.

Set straight in the middle of snow-capped, frozen lava fields and simmering volcanoes, you can tell there's something special about Iceland's chilly capital city long before your plane touches the tarmac. The dramatic landscape, where one can take in the towering mountains and the ice-blue sea in a single glance, is savage, beautiful and strangely primal - facets you'll see reflected in the striking architecture and passionate people that inhabit it.

Perhaps taking their cue from the fabulous geothermal pools and hot springs that bubble up from beneath the ice, the citizens of Reykjavic have been digging deep to bring warmth to this barren landscape ever since they settled here. A walking tour of the city can take in historic houses and abstract architectural wonders in the space of a single street, perfectly interspersed with quality cafés to rival those of Melbourne or Paris. For those sick of pounding the sidewalk or soaking up the culture in the wonderful museums of photography and art, a trip to the Blue Lagoon - the most impressive of the countless thermal spas - is a must. Everything from hydrotherapy to full-body massage is on the menu and should leave you feeling so good about your body you'll be more than ready to hit the town and show it off.

Whether you start off at a slinky cocktail bar or jump straight into the debauched maelstrom that is the local Saturday night 'runtur' (pub crawl), you'll find countless bars, clubs and members of the opposite sex ready and willing to accommodate you...whether you remember them all the next day is another story.

Beijing
Having the eyes of the world on you is a major incentive to glam up and, with the Olympics just around the corner, the best-dressed city of them all has got to be Beijing. Although the recent global attention has been a major factor in speeding this sexy city towards capitalism and all the hedonistic pleasures it holds, the truth is that Beijing has been busy blending the best of eastern tradition and western indulgence for some time now, resulting in the vibrant, vivacious cosmopolitan capital you'll find upon your arrival.

Such is the rate of progress and change in China right now that anyone would struggle to keep a guide book to the city's major attractions up to date. The Forbidden City, the Gate of Heavenly Peace and Tiananmen square may have stood the test of time until now but, with the dozens of new night time attractions opening up every week, it would be no surprise to hear they were being moved elsewhere to make room.

History fans and old romantics need not despair, however. For every new joint filled with hot young things, a hundred traditional sites, shrines and landmarks sit, zen-like, awaiting your attention; for every Beijing local embracing the sexual revolution in swinging clubs, chat rooms and one night stands, a hundred more carry on their lives as they have since the city was first settled 1000 years ago. It's a contradiction of cultures, morals and ideas and it's absolutely intoxicating.

The city is changing at a million miles an hour in as many different directions. China is in the middle of an economic, social and sexual revolution the likes of which we haven't seen since the sixties...and you shouldn't need a better reason than that to hop over and see it for yourself.

Mumbai
If a city's sex-appeal is measured by the amount of inhabitants it has, then Mumbai must be the most gorgeous place to live on the planet. With 13 million residents currently calling it home, Mumbai is the most populous city in the world and caters for every type of taste and traveller you can mention.

The most Westernised of all the Indian cities, Mumbai is home to every walk of life and avenue of distraction you can imagine. From the chic designer malls to the infamous red light district, the city is a sprawling mass of incongruous elements glued together by something unmistakably Indian and undeniably exciting.

Compared to other destinations in India, Mumbai is fairly liberal with its approach to alcohol, so you'll find numerous bars, clubs and restaurants packed with people who know how to have a good time and have enough rupees in their pocket to get it.

Of course, 13 million people can't all be well off and poverty is never more than a stone's throw away, no matter where in the city you are. This can be hard to cope with at times, but it's an inescapable part of life in this incredible capital that doesn't deter the countless migrants and tourists who come here year after year. If you've got a strong stomach and a steely determination to have a good time, Mumbai will stimulate your senses in a way no other city can.
