Swansea is located on the eastern shores of Lake Macquarie and marks the Swansea Channel, the only waterway connecting Lake Macquarie to the Pacific Ocean. Swansea is popular for its inlets, water sports, beaches and fishing.

Fishing is one of the most popular sports in the area with an abundance of marine life, the species of fish is virtually unlimited and the area is well known for its game fishing clubs.

Swansea was named on October 7th 1887. The town was originally called Pelican Flat, and it was developed in response to the requirements of the lake export trade. Swansea is located 140kms north of Sydney on the channel entrance to the magnificent Lake Macquarie.

Dining facilities offer scrumptious seafood, Chinese and beachside cuisine in the many cafes and eateries. It is great to shop in the various boutique and chain stores and take advantage of all the recreational opportunities surrounding the lake and beaches.
