The south coast begins from the south of Sydney's Royal National Park and continues right down the coast to Eden, close to the Victorian Border. There are over 30 national parks and marine parks and reserves in the area. History is also rich.

The coast has beautiful white sandy beaches and the water is sparkling clear turquoise – picture perfect.

When first heading south from Sydney you arrive at the Illawarra region. This is an area made for outdoor adventures. The coastline is spectacular, with such places as Austinmere having ocean pools and Wollongong having NSW’s only beach sky diving jump. Here you will also find Wadbilliga National Park – this is the largest undisturbed wilderness in New South Wales.

Kiama features spectacular views if you are driving south from Sydney and has a well known blowhole shooting water up to 60 metres into the air.

Further south is the Shoalhaven and surrounds. The beaches are pristine, water sparkling turquoise and frequently visited by numerous marine life. To the west, there is the beautiful Kangaroo Valley and the towns are known for their cafes and pubs.

Batemans Bay and its surrounds are famous for its rivers, bays and beaches. Inland you will find beautiful historic towns such as Braidwood.

The last stop before the Victorian border is the Sapphire Coast. Here you will find the Bega cheese factory, historic Tathra Wharf being the last steamer wharf on the coast, caves, spectacular sea cliffs and great food and wine trails.

One place not to forget is Montague Island. This is home to the Australian Fur Seal and over 15 types of breeding birds, including penguins.
