The South Coast region encompasses the counties of Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. Due to its great climate, it is one of the most favoured destinations in Britain.
The coastline is spectacular with chalk cliffs rearing up from the sea at Dover, Limestone at Portland and Marshland at Romney Marsh – just east of Rye.
The region is rich in history, both on the coast and inland, offering castles, museums, gardens, medieval sites and sites where battles and invasions took place.
The south east corner of Britain is packed with visitor favourites. You will find the ancient monument at Stonehenge, the hip coastal resort of Brighton, the ecclesiastical cities of Winchester and Canterbury, the maritime centres on the Solent, the historic Cinque Ports, and for lovers of the Great Outdoors there are the Weald of Kent and the New Forest.
